"Over There" - A Commemorative History of the Old Leek Battery 1908 - 1919

The details regarding the Old Leek Battery have been able to be put together from the Book "Over There" by JE Bloor and JH Sharrett as well as other internet sources on the 46th Division. The book is out of print but copies can be brought from military booksellers or on the ubiquitous e-bay. It contains far more information and detail than we could ever hope to reproduce here.

Over There

It is a fascinating book and a fitting tribute to the local men of C Battery and their exploits, both serious and comical throughout the war. It is well worth the money to purchase a copy. Published by Martin Publicity in 1991.

A few copies do remain for sale in Chapter 1 on Derby Street in Leek.

Leek's Golden Years

Ray Poole's new book 'Leek's Golden Years' contains numerous references to the Nicholsons, the Old Leek Battery and the Monument unveiling.  As well as those items which are of direct relevance here it also contains a fine general potted history of Leek and the key people who formed the town we see today.

Leeks Golden Years

Retail: £9.95

It is on sale at Picture Book and other local shops in Leek.
